Lucknow, June 27 -- The Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (UPSDMA) carried out a flood mock drill in 40 districts across 118 tehsils that are at risk of floods. The aim of the exercise was to check how well different departments work together during a flood and how resources are managed. It also tested the response at the village level. Lt Gen Yogendra Dimri (Retd), vice chairperson of UPSDMA, monitored the entire exercise through video conferencing from Farrukhabad. He said that coordination between departments is very important in dealing with disasters like floods. The mock drill began around 9:30 am and included various emergency situations. These included rescuing people stuck in trees, dealing with false rumours, and checking the condition of relief camps and flood outposts.
