UPRTOU to create 400 video lectures for 'Swayam Prabha'
PRAYAGRAJ, July 4 -- Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU), the only open state university in Uttar Pradesh, has received approval to launch its own programmes on the 'Swayam Prabha' educational service.
As part of the initiative, the university will produce 400 video lectures initially, with filming set to begin soon. UPRTOU has set an ambitious target of creating 1,000 video lectures by the end of the year, Vice Chancellor Prof. Satyakam announced.
The university aims to establish itself as a leading institution in the field of distance and digital education through this venture, he added.
Swayam Prabha is a project of the Union Ministry of Education that offers 80 high-quality educational channels via Direct-to-Home (DTH) services, broadcasting 24/7 across the country. The channels feature curriculum-based content across a wide range of disciplines.
On Wednesday, UPRTOU's Centre for Online Education organised a workshop at the Phaphamau campus to discuss the operation and implementation of the Swayam Prabha channel.
Prof Ajendra Kumar Malik, director of the centre for online education, said that the Swayam Prabha programmes are currently playing a crucial role in expanding education and knowledge in the virtual space.
According to UPRTOU public relations officer Prabhat Chandra Mishra, proposals submitted by 12 university faculty members have been approved for inclusion in the Swayam Prabha initiative.
