UPPCL widens OTS scheme to benefit more consumers
LUCKNOW, Dec. 8 -- Acting on energy minister AK Sharma's directive, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) has widened the scope of its 'Bijli Bill Rahat Yojana' to include thousands of consumers who made partial payments after March 31, 2025.
Earlier, consumers who paid some amount during April, May, June or later months remained outside the ambit of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme and were unable to receive its benefits.
"After reviewing public grievances during field visits and relief camps, the minister directed that no eligible consumer should be denied support merely because they made delayed or partial payments," a government spokesperson said.
"Following his instructions, UPPCL has now extended the scheme to cover all consumers who made any payment up to November 30, 2025," he added.
The decision is expected to provide significant financial relief by reducing outstanding dues for a large number of domestic and small commercial consumers....
