Lucknow, Jan. 17 -- The UP Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) on Friday said that certain organisations were spreading misinformation and creating confusion by misrepresenting facts about the vertical power distribution system to serve vested interests. Such elements, it said, were opposing reforms despite clear evidence of improvement in power supply and consumer services. "The vertical system, implemented in urban areas of UP, has significantly improved the quality and reliability of electricity supply. Its primary objective is to reduce tripping, minimise faults and transformer damage and strengthen transparency in consumer services," a UPPCL spokesman said. He said the reform was introduced to bring urban power supply at par with major cities such as Mumbai and Delhi. "In the first phase, the system in UP was implemented in KESCO, Aligarh, Meerut and Bareilly, yielding encouraging results," spokesman said. htc...
