UPPCL chairman to hold talks with protesting employees' leaders today
LUCKNOW, May 12 -- A second round of dialogue between the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) chairman and Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti leaders over the proposed privatisation of Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal power distribution companies will be held here on Monday.
Ahead of the talks, the Samiti has demanded withdrawal of all punitive actions taken against employees protesting the privatisation move to create a conducive atmosphere for the dialogue.
Power employees, contractual workers, and engineers have been agitating against the decision to privatise 42 districts under Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal power distribution corporations for over five months.
"UPPCL chairman Ashish Kumar Goel has invited us for talks on Monday. We welcome the initiative but demand withdrawal of punitive action already taken against many agitating employees," Samiti convenor Shailendra Dubey said.
