LUCKNOW, Jan. 15 -- Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) chairman Ashish Goyal on Wednesday ordered the suspension of an executive engineer in connection with a fatal electrocution incident in Shahjahanpur. Junior and assistant engineers had already been suspended in the case. A contractual worker died due to electric shock during maintenance work in Jalalabad in November 2025. Goyal also directed issuance of show-cause notices to the superintending engineer and chief engineer concerned, questioning why work was carried out without mandatory safety gear. He reiterated that any power accident would invite strict action, including against senior officers. The UPPCL chairman further ordered show-cause notices against senior engineers in Prayagraj, Meerut and Aligarh over poor performance, and adverse entries for officers in Badaun and Jhansi for weak revenue recovery. Warning of stern action over transformer damage, power theft and low bill collection, he asked officials to aggressively implement the ongoing electricity bill relief scheme across the state....
