UP will face no urea shortage, Nadda assures SP Shahi
Lucknow, July 24 -- Uttar Pradesh agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi met Union chemicals and fertilisers minister JP Nadda in New Delhi on Wednesday, requesting him to ensure uninterrupted urea supply for July and August for smooth Kharif sowing, a government spokesman said.
Nadda, who is also the Union health minister and BJP national president, directed fertilizers secretary Rajat Kumar Mishra to ensure adequate supply and assured there would be no shortage in UP, the spokesman added.
The UP minister also sought increased urea allocation for the cooperative sector and suggested technical upgrades in PoS (point of sale) machines to improve monitoring of fertilizer sales.
Availability of fertilizers for upcoming crops like mustard and early potato was also discussed.
Later, Shahi met Union minister Prahlad Joshi to request early release of central funds for solar pump installations under the PM-KUSUM scheme.
Joshi, according to the spokesman,assured that the funds would be released soon.
Surya Pratap Shahi also held talks with Union agriculture secretary Devesh Chaturvedi on timely fund release under centrally sponsored schemes like the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and addressed payment-related issues....
