Lucknow, Sept. 8 -- The Yogi Adityanath government will provide free 90-day training in beekeeping to promote self-employment and boost honey production in the state, horticulture and agriculture marketing minister (independent charge) Dinesh Pratap Singh said on Sunday. The training programmes will be organised from September 16 to December 15, 2025, at the Horticultural Experiment and Training Centres in Saharanpur and Basti, and at the Government Garden in Prayagraj. Applicants can register till September 16. Singh said the government was encouraging farmers to take up beekeeping by providing a 40% subsidy, as it helped in income generation, improves crop yield through cross-pollination, and supports environmental balance. "Beekeeping is a low-cost, low-land enterprise that can significantly enhance farmers' income," he added. According to horticulture and food processing director Bhanu Prakash Ram, candidates of all categories, both men and women, who have passed at least class eight, are eligible. Interested applicants must submit forms through their nearest centre with a character certificate from two respected individuals or a gazetted officer.
