Lucknow, July 29 -- The Uttar Pradesh government has approved an amount of Rs.5.24 crore to give stipends to 26,215 differently abled girl students of the state under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan at the rate of Rs.200 per month for a maximum of 10 months, a government spokesperson said. This decision was approved at a meeting of the Project Approval Board of the government of India, in which the state government has ensured its quick implementation. The entire amount will be sent to the bank accounts of the parents or guardians of the girl students. Those girl students studying from Class 1 to 8 in council primary, upper primary and composite schools will be eligible, who have a minimum 40% disability certificate issued by a competent medical board. This entire process will be conducted under a completely digital, transparent and verified technical system through Prerna, Samarth and PFMS portals, spokesperson said. A four-member committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the District Basic Education Officer to check and verify the eligibility in every district, which will include financial and educational officers. This committee will prepare the final list of beneficiaries and upload it on the PFMS portal after digital verification. Minister of state (independent charge), basic education, UP government Sandeep Singh said, "This scholarship will become a strong support for those Divyang daughters whose dreams are much bigger than their physical condition. This is not just financial assistance, but a symbol of equal opportunity, dignity and sensitive governance in education." All expenditure related to the scheme will be made as per the financial rules and purchase instructions of FM&P Manual-2024. If double payment or item deviation is found, the accountability of the concerned officer will be fixed. All bills-vouchers and accounting statements will be closely monitored and instructions have been given to complete all payments by September 30 at all costs....
