LUCKNOW, May 6 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is set to establish 12 expressway hubs along the Bundelkhand and Purvanchal expressways to enhance public amenities and promote regional development. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has finalised a blueprint, with four hubs to be built on the 296.07-km Bundelkhand Expressway and eight on the 341-km Purvanchal Expressways, the state government said on Monday. These expressway hubs will offer facilities such as petrol and CNG pumps, EV charging stations, drinking water, toilets, food courts, budget hotels, commercial areas, theme parks, and logistics parks. The initiative aims to create convenience for commuters while unlocking commercial opportunities in adjoining areas, according to UPEIDA. On the Bundelkhand Expressway, four hubs will be developed on 40 hectares of land across three districts. In Banda, a 10-hectare hub will be built on the right side of the expressway. In Hamirpur, a similar 10-hectare facility will come up on the left side. Jalaun will have two hubs of 10 hectares each, on both sides of the expressway. For the Purvanchal Expressway, eight hubs will be set up across six districts. These include a 10-hectare site in Barabanki on the left side, a 10.12-hectare site in Amethi on the right side, a 10.10-hectare site in Mau on the left side, and a 10.52-hectare site in Ghazipur on the right side. Both Sultanpur and Azamgarh districts will see hubs developed on both sides of the expressway. In addition to basic amenities, each hub will include designated zones for industrial and commercial activities. UPEIDA said that it also plans to integrate facilities such as children's play areas, healthcare centres, and educational institutions, making these hubs functional for both travellers and the surrounding communities. The expressway hubs will feature advanced CCTV surveillance systems for better security and monitoring. All development work will be carried out under the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) model, ensuring efficient execution and timely delivery of the projects, UPEIDA stated....
