UP tightens security ahead of Bakrid
LUCKNOW, June 6 -- Security and vigilance have been stepped up across Uttar Pradesh ahead of Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid), which will be celebrated on Saturday, senior police officials said on Thursday. Special advisories have been issued to police chiefs of all 75 districts to maintain peace and law and order during the festival.
UP Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna, in a press note, informed that all Additional Directors General (ADGs), Inspectors General (IGs) of police zones, Deputy IGs of police ranges, seven police commissioners, and district police chiefs have been issued detailed instructions. The DGP said sensitive areas have been identified, and officials have been asked to make necessary arrangements to prevent any law-and-order issues.
Districts such as Bareilly, Moradabad, Meerut, Amroha, Sambhal, Ghaziabad, and Hapur have been marked as very sensitive, with heightened vigilance ordered.
The advisory directs that animal sacrifices be carried out only at traditional and covered locations. Sacrifices in the open and carrying meat openly have been discouraged to avoid potential disturbances.HTC...
