PRAYAGRAJ, July 1 -- The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a wanted criminal from Pratapgarh. The accused, identified as Irfan alias Changu, is a resident of Khampur village under the Dilipur police station area. A reward of Rs 50,000 had been announced for his capture. Irfan was wanted in a serious case registered at the Patti police station in Pratapgarh. The charges against him include assault, murder, and rioting. He faces cases under several sections of the new Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including 191(2), 191(3), 190, 115(2), 61(2), 109(1), and 351(3). He is also booked under section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment (CLA) Act. The STF team arrested him on Monday morning from the Kaliyana Nahar area in Pratapgarh. Police records show that Irfan is involved in 11 criminal cases registered in seven different police stations across Pratapgarh, including Kotwali Nagar, Kohraur, Patti, Raniganj, Kandhai, Dilipur, and Antu. During questioning, Irfan admitted that he and his associates attacked a man named Ikhlaq and his companions on June 17.
