LUCKNOW, May 6 -- Uttar Pradesh got off to a flying start in the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 Bihar, winning two medals, including a silver and a bronze on the second day of the event on Monday.
Whereas the duo of Urva Chaudhary and Dev Pratap finished with a silver medal in the Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol final at the Karni Singh Shooting Ranges in New Delhi, Chintu bagged a bronze medal in 50 kg category in judo event at Patna.
Prachi and Mayank Choudhary held their nerves to claim the first gold medal of this edition with a 17-15 victory over Urva and Dev. Prachi, who was part of the Rajasthan team that won silver last year, was naturally delighted at finishing higher this time in Mayank Choudhary's company.
With calmness of a seasoned shooter, she hit 10.6 with her last shot when the teams were level 15-15. It was a nail-biting contest as Uttar Pradesh, including 14-year-old Dev Pratap, rallied from 2-10 to tie the scores.
The Uttar Pradesh Chess Sports Association (UPCSA) has decided to launch a special programme called "Future Grandmaster Series", providing emerging players with the exposure and experience needed for participation in major national and international comp-etitions.
UPCSA's Anand Singh on Monday states that in the first phase of this series, international-rated chess tournaments will be organized in 10 districts of the state during the 2025-26 season. Promising players will be selected from these tournaments and provided training under the guidance of Grandmasters or International Masters....
