UP seeks centre's support to boost tourism
Lucknow, Aug. 19 -- The state government has submitted 12 key proposals to the Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture. In a meeting held in New Delhi, tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh met union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to request support for projects aimed at strengthening religious, heritage, and cultural tourism.
Top proposals include setting up an immigration office at Kakrahwa Border in Siddharthnagar to ease travel between Nepal's Lumbini and India's Kapilvastu, and building a grand stupa at Piprahwa to house recently returned Buddhist relics. The state also proposed tourism development at Kalinjar and Talbehat Forts, and free entry to Neelkanth Mahadev Temple during festivals.
Other projects include a Tagore Cultural Complex in Gautam Buddha Nagar, upgrading Ravindralaya Auditorium in Lucknow, and modernising museums in Lucknow, Mathura, and Kushinagar....
