UP's mango exports rose by 7.59% in 2023-24, show DDP estimates
LUCKNOW, May 29 -- Uttar Pradesh's mango exports reached 567.62 tonnes in 2023-24, indicating an increase of 7.59% over the previous year, according to the District Domestic Product (DDP) estimates released by the Economics and Statistics Division of the planning department of U.P.
The top five Uttar Pradesh districts contributing the most to mango production in the state were Unnao, Lucknow, Saharanpur, Meerut and Sitapur.
Uttar Pradesh's five districts with the highest growth in mango production include Chitrakoot (45.4%), Hamirpur (45.1%), Jalaun (42.6%), Banda (28.8 %) and Lalitpur (28.0%).
Principal secretary (planning department) Alok Kumar said the DDP data shows that the state's primary sector, particularly agriculture sector, has shown remarkable performance significantly contributing to the state's economy. He said Uttar Pradesh's GSDP has reached Rs 25.63 lakh crore with primary sector accounting for Rs 6.35 lakh crore contributing 27% of the total GSDP.
Out of this Rs 3.96 lakh crore comes from the crop sector. The state's agriculture products are gaining global recognition with Geographical Indication (GI) tags for Kala Namak rice of Siddharthnagar, Pratapgarh's Amla, Malihabad's Dussehri mangoes and Adamchini rice from Chandauli....
