LUCKNOW, June 27 -- UP Rudras on Thursday launched its three-day grassroots hockey clinic at the Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Hockey Stadium in Vijayant Khand here. This launch marks a shared commitment to revitalizing Indian hockey by identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh's director sports, RP Singh on the occasion praised the initiative of UP Rudras. "I sincerely thank the UP Rudras team for their commitment to supporting hockey not just in Uttar Pradesh, but across India. Their involvement is a true example of how private participation can drive public sporting ambitions. Initiatives like this are vital for identifying future talent and strengthening grassroots-level engagement." Cedric D'Souza, technical director of UP Rudras hoped that this programme will help Uttar Pradesh players gain benefit. "I really appreciate and thankful for the efforts of UP Rudras to promote grass root development in UP. This will definitely enhance the promotion of coaches and players in the future." UP Rudras's head of sports, Sukvinder Singh also shared the vision of this initiative. "Our vision extends beyond infrastructure; we want to reignite the passion for hockey across Uttar Pradesh. This initiative is a strong step toward developing a vibrant hockey culture in UP." The second part of the grassroots hockey clinic will take place at Varanasi from June 30 to July 2. The clinic consists of five structured sessions in each city.
