Lucknow, Aug. 14 -- The Uttar Pradesh Police have issued a high alert across the state ahead of Independence Day and Janmashtami celebrations, which fall on Friday and Saturday respectively. Director general of police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna, has directed all district police officers to strengthen law and order. He said special attention must be given to public gatherings, temples, and other sensitive areas. The DGP instructed that CCTV cameras be made active and manual surveillance be increased. He also ordered flag marches in sensitive areas to show police presence and stop any potential trouble. Police have been asked to collect intelligence on those who might disturb peace and take steps to stop them in advance. Monitoring of social media has also been stepped up to prevent the spread of fake news or content that could cause unrest. In addition, the DGP has asked for a proper traffic plan to keep roads clear and ensure smooth movement of people during the celebrations. Janmashtami arrangements For Janmashtami, police have been told to secure all temples and event sites. DGP Krishna said crowd control measures must be in place to avoid any accidents or overcrowding. He also asked officers to work closely with temple committees for peaceful celebrations.
