Lucknow, June 21 -- Recent data from Parakh National Survey 2024 shows that for the first time, Class 3 students from the state have performed better than the national average in language and mathematics subjects. This comprehensive survey was conducted on December 4, 2024, in which all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh participated, a basic education department official said. Class 3 students scored an average of 68 marks in language and 64 marks in mathematics, while the national average was 64 and 60, respectively. This performance is proof that the primary education system of the state is moving rapidly towards quality, an official said. The report shows that districts like Kasganj, Shamli, Auraiya, Ambedkarnagar and Mahoba performed the best in Class 3. The National Achievement Survey (NAS) of the year 2021, Uttar Pradesh was behind the national average at the Class 3 level. Better performance in Class 6 and 9 too The state has also shown strength in Class 6. The average score in language was 55 (national average 57) and in mathematics was 45 (national average 46). The difference is very small. In this category, Kanpur Nagar, Shravasti, Kasganj, Shamli and Aligarh were the districts with the highest marks. In Class 9, Uttar Pradesh scored 38 (national average 40) in science, 34 (national average 37) in mathematics and 37 (national average 40) in social science. This difference is minimal and clearly indicates the direction of improvement. In class 9, students of Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Shamli districts have performed excellently, an official said. Sandeep Singh, basic education minister, said, "The performance of Uttar Pradesh in the Parakh National Survey 2024 is proof that when there is a balance between policy, planning and execution, even the largest state can become an example of change in education."...
