LUCKNOW, Dec. 9 -- Host Uttar Pradesh continued their winning streak in the 37th Federation Cup Handball Championship (Men and Women) here on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh women's team scored their third consecutive victory, securing a place in the knockouts, while the hosts also boosted their chances with their second win in the men's category.
On the third day of the championship on Monday, Uttar Pradesh women's team defeated Bihar 18-11 in their first match. After a slight 9-7 lead at halftime, UP maintained control in the second half. Khushboo scored the most goals for the team with 7, followed by Reshma with 5, Preeti with 3, and Rajpati with 2. For Bihar, Pooja scored 4, Jyoti with 3, and Ruby with 2.
Uttar Pradesh then defeated Tamil Nadu 20-13 in their second match to secure their third consecutive victory.
On the other hand, the hosts defeated Delhi 41-37 in the men's category after a close contest. Hosts were ahead 19-17 at the halftime. Avinash scored 12 goals, while Vikrant scored 10. Aman scored five, while Nihal and Rajneesh each scored three goals. For Delhi, Sunil scored 11, Ravi scored eight, Mankhush scored seven, and Anshu scored six.
