LUCKNOW, Feb. 11 -- Hosts and favourites UP Karam and Odisha's Tata Naval Academy stormed into the final of the 36th All India KD Singh Babu Sub-Junior Boys Hockey Tournament, notching up contrasting wins, at the Padma Shri Mohd Shahid Synthetic Hockey Stadium here on Tuesday. Whereas UP Karam brushed aside PIS Mohali 3-1, Naval Tata Academy crushed Punjab's Round Glass Academy 5-0. The final will be played on Wednesday at 2.30 p.m., but before that PIS Mohali will take on Round Glass Academy in the hard-line match at 12.30 p.m. In the match between UP Karam and PIS Mohali, Anshu Pal put the hosts into the lead in the 12th minute of the first quarter through a field goal (1-0). None of the side could score a goal in the second quarter. But in the third quarter Devansh Chaurasia converted a penalty corner into goal to make it 2-0 in the 39th minute. Though PIS Mohali boys then kept the UP Karam boys away from their goalpost for a long time, in the last ten minutes there were many ups and downs. Vivek Yadav struck a field goal in the 55th minute to take the score to 3-0 in favour of UP Karam and a minute before the hooter PIS Mohali's skipper Manbir Singh shot on goal back through PC conversion (1-3). Earlier, forward Abhishek Soreng was the star performer for Naval Tata Academy as he scored three goals, including two goals through penalty corners. Nitesh Barwa and Nirmal Minz were the other goal scorers. The boys and girls teams from Bakshi Ka Talab Inter College (BKT College) dominated the two-day District Senior Kho-Kho Championship, at the KD Singh Babu Stadium as they won the titles in style. In the men's final, BKT Inter College Blue defeated Central Public School Red by one point (11-10), whereas in the senior girls' final, BKT Inter College defeated Central Public School by ten points. Rakhi of BKT Inter College was declared the best runner, Shahreen of Central Public School was declared the chaser, whereas Kamini of BKT Inter College was declared the best all-rounder....
