UP has emerged as most-visited state: Minister
GORAKHPUR, Jan. 12 -- Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the most visited state in India by both domestic and international tourists in 2025, owing to improved infrastructure and connectivity led by chief minister Yogi Adityanath, state tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh on Sunday.
Inaugurating the weeklong Gorakhpur Mahotsav at Champa Devi Park, the minister said UP's image had been redefined at both national and international levels.
"Visitors will experience glimpses of the transformation over the past eight years. Earlier, this region was labelled backward, but under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath, development has reached every sector, and Gorakhpur has emerged as a major tourism hub," Singh said.
He said that the government was making sustained efforts to promote tourism and culture. He added that festivals like the Gorakhpur Mahotsav play a vital role in showcasing UP's rich cultural heritage, folk traditions, art, music, dance, and handicrafts at national and international platforms.
Artisans and traders from across the region have set up stalls showcasing Saharanpur furniture, traditional rugs from Gujarat, Khurja pottery, and a wide range of products at children's and women's stalls.
The festival will conclude on January 17 with a closing ceremony to be presided over by CM Yogi....
