UP grid to get 25% boost from newlyoperationalTehri PSP
Lucknow, Dec. 11 -- The third unit of the 1,000 MW Tehri Pumped Storage Plant (PSP), the country's first variable-speed pumped storage project, was brought into commercial operation on Tuesday. The commissioning was conducted virtually in the presence of Union power minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Uttar Pradesh energy minister AK Sharma.
With this, UP will receive 25% of the power generated from the newly operational unit. Officials said the plant would support grid stability by storing surplus power during off-peak hours and supplying up to 1,000 MW during periods of high demand. Two of the project's four units are already operational.
Sharma said, "The additional power allocation would help meet the state's growing demand. The state government would extend required support for commissioning the fourth unit in the coming months."
Senior officials from the Union power ministry and the UP government also joined the event virtually. htc...
