LUCKNOW, Oct. 6 -- The Yogi government will celebrate Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti with grandeur across Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday (October 7). A range of cultural and spiritual events besides lamp-lighting ceremonies will be held at temples and sites linked to Maharishi Valmiki. The main celebration will take place at Maharishi Valmiki's meditation site in Lalapur, Chitrakoot, with a grand programme beginning at 11 AM. The event will start with the garlanding of Valmiki's statue, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony, a Ramayana recital by Virat Maharaj and Sanskrit students, and spiritual performances by Dayaram Raikwad and his team. The programme will also include Luv-Kush katha, havan and devotional songs. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed that the events will be held at the district, tehsil, and development block levels. Programmes will also be held at key Valmiki sites, including Valmiki Ashram in Bithoor (Kanpur), Shravasti, Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Tulsi Das Ashram in Rajapur, Chitrakoot. Yogi has emphasised public participation and presence of elected representatives at all events. Local artistes will again be given a spiritual platform, continuing the government's focus on promoting regional talent. Committees formed under respective district magistrates have selected artistes for each district. These artistes will perform at local temples and Valmiki-linked locations. Arrangements for cleanliness, drinking water, sound systems, lighting, and security are to be ensured at all venues. The culture department, along with the information and public relations department, district tourism offices and cultural councils, will coordinate the state-wide events.
