UP govt intensifies fight against malnutrition
LUCKNOW, July 8 -- Cabinet minister Baby Rani Maurya emphasised the importance of breaking the generational cycle of malnutrition.
She stated that the Sambhav campaign can achieve lasting success only through continuous monitoring of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, along with real time data tracking and robust inter-departmental coordination.
To eliminate severe malnutrition, the Uttar Pradesh government launched the fifth edition of its Sambhav 5.0 (2025) campaign in Lucknow on Monday. Acknowledging the commitment of Anganwadi workers, officials encouraged them to share their experiences with the media and the public, aiming to turn their efforts into a catalyst for collective social awareness. The event was organised by the department of women welfare, child development and nutrition, reinforcing the commitment to bring qualitative improvements in the nutritional status of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers across the state. Baby Rani Maurya and minister of state, Pratibha Shukla inaugurated the event.
Launched in 2021, the Sambhav Abhiyan has made significant strides in improving child nutrition across Uttar Pradesh through timely reforms, innovation-driven interventions, and effective departmental coordination over its four successful editions. The main objective of Sambhav 5.0 is to ensure timely identification and proper treatment of severely malnourished children, effectively implement the "six months, seven times" strategy, and regularly monitor the nutritional status of women during pregnancy....
