UP government suspends three dist agri officers
Lucknow, Aug. 21 -- Uttar Pradesh government has ordered strict action to ensure timely supply of seeds and fertilisers for the rabi season, suspending three district agriculture officers in Shravasti, Sitapur and Balrampur for negligence.
Chairing a review meeting here on Wednesday agriculture minister Surya Pratap Shahi said quality seeds and fertilisers would be provided on time through e-lottery and POS-based distribution to maintain transparency.
On fertilisers, he said raids have been intensified to curb hoarding and black marketing. Over 12,600 inspections had been conducted so far, 93 FIRs registered, and licences of hundreds of dealers suspended or cancelled. Police and agriculture officials are also probing cases of excessive urea purchase in some districts, with strict action promised against offenders.
