UP go down meekly to Rajasthan
LUCKNOW, Jan. 7 -- Uttar Pradeesh continued to go through a bumpy ride in their campaign in Group D of the Women's Under-15 One Day Trophy on Tuesday as they lost to Rajasthan by seven wickets, at the Aditya Academy Ground in Kolkata.
For the second time, Uttar Pradeesh batting came to copper as they could make 137/9 in stipulated 33 overs while batting first after winning the toss. In reply, Rajasthan romped home in 23.5 overs, losing just three wickets.
Rajasthan openers Sarika Soni (23, 33b, 2x4) and Kavya Bishnoi (32, 42b, 4x4) stitched together 66 runs in 11.3 overs and set the stage for a convincing win. Then, Rochelle Yadav (30, 39b, 4x4) and Anjali Giri (20, 21b, 3x4) added an unbeaten 72-run for the fourth wicket to ensure the teams' smooth win. Minakshi Yadav, Garima Singh and Yashika shared three wickets between them for Uttar Pradesh.
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh never got the going easy as they lost opener yashika (4) in the very second over. Fellow opener Siddhangana Verma (16, 19b, 3x4) along with Garima Singh (21, 30b, 3x4) tried to steady the innings, adding 30 runs for the second wicket, but to no avail as Uttar Pradesh kept losing wickets on regular intervals. Minakshi Yadav (22, 33b, 2x4) and keeper-batter Annu Shree (23, 65b, 2x4) too tried their best to raise the total.
For Rajasthan, Mahira Khan and Aarti took two wickets each, whereas Rochelle Yadav and Darshita Bairagi shared two wickets between them. Now, UP take on Delhi on Thursday....
