LUCKNOW, Nov. 6 -- Former champions and hosts Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday suffered their consecutive defeat in the new season of the Under-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy after they went down meekly to Railways by 126 runs in their Elite Group D encounter. After registering a thrilling one-wicket win against hosts Himachal Pradesh in the season opener last month, Sameer Rizvi-led Uttar Pradesh lost to Karnataka by 75 runs in their first match at home at the Victoria Park Ground in Meerut last week. Having a strong battling line-up at the Saheed Vijay Singh Pathak Sports Complex Ground in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh needed 402 runs to extract their second win in the season, but could score 275 in 79.4 overs in their second essay after resuming the day at 64/4 on Wednesday. When UP began the day on Wednesday, they needed 339 more runs to win the match with six wickets in hand with Mohd Amaan (95, 92b, 4x8, 3x6) and Sameer Rizvi in the middle. The two took the score to 170, stitching together 110 runs for the fifth wicket before skipper Rizvi was stumped by Vaibhav Pandey off MD Jaiswal after scoring 70-ball 86, which contained eight boundaries and five sixes. In fact, it was a big blow to Uttar Pradesh as a risky shot wasn't required at this stage as this allowed Railways to put pressure back on the hosts, who began crumbling before being bowled out in 79.4 overs....
