UP gets 30% excess rain in week ending July 3
Lucknow, July 5 -- It will generally be a cloudy weekend in the state capital with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers, the Met office has forecast. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The state forecast is rain/thundershowers very likely at a few places over West UP and over many places over East UP. The Met department issued a warning of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning very likely at isolated places over the state. Heavy rain is very likely at isolated places over East UP. Meanwhile, in the week between June 27 to July 3, UP recorded 30% excess rainfall with West UP getting 89% surplus rain and East UP recording normal precipitation, IMD data read.
The state received 57.6 mm rainfall against the normal of 44.2 mm, an excess of 30%. West UP witnessed 69.1 mm actual rain against the normal of 36.5 mm rainfall, an 89% surplus. In contrast, East UP got 49.6 mm rainfall against 49.7 mm which was normal.
Overall since June 1, the state has recorded 18% excess rain. UP received 133.2 mm rain against the normal of 112.5 mm. West UP witnessed 149 mm actual rain against normal of 92.8 mm rainfall, 61% surplus. In contrast East UP got 122.1 mm rainfall against 126.6 mm that was a 4% deficit. The southwest monsoon had covered the entire state and India on June 29, about nine days before the scheduled date of July 8, the Weatherman said....
