UP Diwas events to focus on state's journey, govt initiatives
LUCKNOW, Jan. 13 -- State and district-level programmes on a grand scale will mark the three-day UP Diwas-2026 celebrations from January 24 to 26 centred on the theme "Developed India, Developed Uttar Pradesh"
The state-level main event will be held at Rashtra Prerna Sthal, Lucknow, while all districts have been directed to ensure equally elaborate celebrations with wide public participation.
Chief secretary SP Goyal said live telecast of the state-level programme would be mandatory at all district venues and asked officials to finalise programme venues in a time-bound manner. Public representatives from areas concerned must be invited to all events to ensure mass participation.
District-level programmes will feature exhibitions showcasing Uttar Pradesh's historical journey and archival records. Special stalls will be set up for promotion of government schemes and beneficiary outreach.
Under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, exhibitions and sale of artisans' products will be organised, including GI-tagged ODOP items in a trade show format. Products under One District One Dish will also be showcased. Special exhibitions will be organised on Mission Shakti, innovation and to mark 150 years of Vande Mataram.
Exemplary individuals, including youth role models, tourism entrepreneurs, women from self-help groups, cultural and art personalities, and achievers from sports, panchayati raj, social welfare, rural development, agriculture and labour sectors, will be honoured during the celebrations. The youth welfare department will organise motivational programmes, competitions and award ceremonies for youth during the same period.
UP Diwas-2026 will also be celebrated abroad with the support of Indian embassies in Fiji, Mauritius, Maldives, Singapore and Thailand. The MSME and tourism departments will provide souvenirs for these international events.
