UP Diwas events planned in Delhi, 12 countries, too
Lucknow, Jan. 20 -- Not just across the state and in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh has planned events to mark the annual UP Diwas in 12 countries, too, officials said.
On January 24, Dilli Haat will host a cultural evening showcasing the colours, crafts and cuisine of Uttar Pradesh. The event, themed 'Viksit Uttar Pradesh', aims to present the state's cultural identity as one rooted in tradition while aligned with contemporary development and global aspirations.
The programme is expected to draw representatives from 18-20 foreign missions, members of the Indian diaspora, senior Union government officials and eminent personalities from Uttar Pradesh. Folk performances from different regions of the state, exhibitions of traditional crafts and a curated presentation of regional cuisines will together offer a glimpse into UP's cultural diversity. Eminent individuals of Uttar Pradesh origin who have made notable contributions across sectors will be honoured.
Meanwhile, Indian Missions in 12 countries, including Fiji, Cambodia and Seychelles, are set to organise programmes with participation from UP-origin communities to mark UP Diwas. Also, UP Diwas will be celebrated simultaneously across all districts of the state, with a state-level event scheduled at Rashtra Prerna Sthal in Lucknow.
District-level programmes will focus on culture, literature, social initiatives and development milestones.
Additional chief secretary (Tourism, Culture and Religious Affairs) Amrit Abhijat said Dilli Haat also provided a platform to showcase government initiatives such as 'One District One Product' and 'Vocal for Local'. Lucknow's UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy status would underline the state's cultural depth and tourism potential, he added.
Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh said the Delhi event was envisioned as a cultural bridge connecting Uttar Pradesh with the world. Through platforms like Dilli Haat and our overseas missions, we are taking Uttar Pradesh's cultural story to a global audience," he said....
