UP DGP reviews crime, focuses on festival security
LUCKNOW, Feb. 15 -- Director General of Police (DGP), Rajeev Krishna chaired a statewide online crime review meeting on Saturday, issuing key directives on festival security, budget utilisation and improving investigation standards under the new criminal laws.
Addressing senior officers across zones and districts, the DGP said effective disposal of public complaints will remain the top parameter for evaluating district performance.
With Mahashivratri, Holi and Ramzan approaching, he ordered robust security at temples, ghats, mosques and sensitive locations, along with smooth traffic management. Officers were asked to review past disputes, act swiftly on intelligence inputs. Social media monitoring and activation of local intelligence networks were also emphasised.
The DGP directed proper and time-bound utilisation of the 2025-26 police budget. Stressing strict enforcement of new criminal laws, he highlighted the importance of electronic evidence in investigations.
Preparations for the rollout of CCTNS 2.0 and ICJS 2.0 must be completed promptly, with superintendents of police personally monitoring cases involving e-summons and e-evidence. With 60,000 trainee constables set to join districts and commissionerates, pending barrack and accommodation works must be expedited, he said.
