LUCKNOW, Jan. 24 -- In a bid to increase its base in Uttar Pradesh, the state Congress will roll out "Samvidhan Samvad Mahapanchayat"-a carefully planned series of 30 conventions spread across the state aimed at reconnecting with Dalits, backward classes, farmers and the youth-on January 24 (Saturday) from Sitapur. "Some of these conventions may be addressed by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi," said UP Congress president Ajay Rai. "During the 100-day drive, the focus will be on MGNREGA, Constitution and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. Along with failure of the BJP government, any significant regional/local issue will also be taken up during the MGNREGA Chaupaal, and Samvidhan Samvad conventions," said the Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra. After Sitapur, the next convention will be in Agra on January 31 followed by Varanasi on February 8 and Aligarh February 14 and next in Saharanpur on February 16.
