LUCKNOW, June 28 -- The Uttar Pradesh Congress has strongly criticised Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale over his recent remarks on the Constitution. "RSS has opposed the Constitution from the very beginning. It does not believe in ending inequality-whether it's social inequality faced by marginalised communities or gender inequality-whereas the Constitution upholds the principle of equality for all," said CP Rai, chairman of the media cell of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. Rai further stated, "India is committed to providing economic and social equality to all its citizens. There must be equal distribution of resources, effective social welfare, and reduced economic disparity so that the poor get their rightful opportunities. But the RSS has always had an issue with this, having historically shown animosity towards certain religions." "Secularism means the state does not favor any one religion, and every citizen has the right to follow their own faith," Rai added.
