UP BoaRd exam: AI-based CCTV cameras to monitor 7,000 exam centres
PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 23 -- The process of AI (Artificial Intelligence) based monitoring for the UP Board's 2026 high school and intermediate exams has begun. AI-based CCTV cameras will be installed at more than 7,000 exam centres to ensure a fair examination.
The hi-tech cameras will be connected to a control room at the board headquarters, and alerts will be issued if any unwanted activity is detected at the examination centres all over the state.
This will be especially helpful in monitoring examination question papers at night. The AI-powered CCTV cameras will update information, including opening and closing times of strong rooms, and alerts will be issued if any irregularities are detected. Even if students talk to each other or try to cheat with chits during the exam, they will be caught.
The board has issued a tender for this. Last year too, preparations were started for surveillance through AI-based cameras, but despite three tenders, it could not be made possible due to technical reasons.
An amount of Rs 25 crore has been allocated by the state government for the installation of cameras. There is also a plan to build a permanent hi-tech control room at the UP Board headquarters from this budget.
