Unseasonal showers expose drainage gaps
LUCKNOW, May 5 -- A sharp spell of rainfall on Monday morning disrupted normal life across parts of the city within an hour, exposing gaps in the drainage network and raising concerns over the Lucknow Municipal Corporation's (LMC) monsoon preparedness.
Gaurav Kumar, municipal commissioner, said the water receded after the rainfall stopped and teams were deployed in affected areas to manage the situation.
The city recorded around 14.8 mm of rainfall between 8:45 am and 9:45 am, according to the meteorological department. Despite the brief duration, the downpour led to widespread waterlogging on key roads and in several residential areas. Major disruption was reported near the Ekana Stadium underpass, where vehicles moved through accumulated water, causing traffic congestion. htc...
