Unity March sees massive turnout
Lucknow, Nov. 26 -- Lucknow North Assembly constituency witnessed scores of students and other citizens participating in a grand Unity March held on Tuesday to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event marked the culmination of Unity Marches organised across all Lucknow metropolitan assembly segments.
Senior leaders, including finance minister Suresh Khanna, Lucknow metropolitan president of the BJP Anand Dwivedi, mayor Sushma Kharwal, MLA Neeraj Bora, MLC Avneesh Patel, and social worker Bindu Bora were present at the programme.
The BJP's media in-charge Praveen Garg said that the march began at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose College in Aliganj and travelled through major points such as Sahu Agency Crossing, Nehru Bal Vatika, Nirala Nagar, Daliganj Crossing and Panna Lal Road before concluding at Ramadhin Singh Lawn.
A major highlight of the event was the overwhelming youth participation. Nearly 20,000 students are said to have joined the march, chanting patriotic slogans and waving the tricolour.
The St. Joseph School band led segments of the procession, while seven cultural troupes gave performances at points.
Addressing the gathering, Suresh Khanna said Sardar Patel's leadership and political acumen were instrumental in uniting 562 princely states after Independence. Dwivedi emphasised that the march aimed to spread a message of national unity and harmony....
