United in pride, UP erupts in joy
Lucknow, May 8 -- Patriotic fervour gripped Uttar Pradesh as people across the state hailed the Indian Army's decisive action under 'Operation Sindoor' against terrorist camps in Pakistan. Streets, homes, and marketplaces buzzed with celebrations, slogans, and an overwhelming sense of national unity.
Meerut witnessed a powerful expression of solidarity, especially at Hapur Adda, where the e-rickshaw union brought together Hindus and Muslims in a rare display of communal harmony. Amid chants of "Bharat Mata ki Jai," people exchanged sweets and celebrated the army's valour. Laddoos were also distributed by the Uttar Pradesh Udyog Vyapar Mandal, whose president Chahal Singh Balyan declared, "This is exactly what the country wanted."
In Bulandshahr's Akbarpur village, Muslim residents hailed the air strike as a rightful answer to the Pahalgam terror attack. "The 26 people killed were our brothers," said Mohammad Shamim, while others raised slogans of "Hindustan Zindabad," firmly rejecting Pakistan's attempts to divide communities. Celebrations echoed through Bareilly, where a special yagna was conducted at a city temple, followed by sweet distribution. Mahant Sushil Pathak called the action a stern message against terrorism and a defence of national honour.
Festive scenes also unfolded in Pilibhit, where chants of patriotic slogans rang from dawn. In Gorakhpur, Basti, Maharajganj, and Kushinagar, flag hoisting ceremonies, processions, and public gatherings demonstrated wide public support. Lawyers, students, corporators, and traders joined hands in these events.
Muslim-majority areas like parts of Deoria also took part in the celebrations. Hafiz Nazre Alam of Madarsa Husa- inia applauded the strike, calling it a "befitting reply to terrorism."
As the day progressed, the atmosphere remained electric, united by pride and a clear message: the people of Uttar Pradesh stand together in support of the armed forces and against the menace of terrorism....
