Unique confluence of devotion at BNA
LUCKNOW, April 12 -- A unique confluence of devotion was depicted at Bharatendu Natya Academy as part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations on Saturday.
A dance drama 'Shri Krishna ki Vari' and 'Adishakti Ram Shakti' were staged as part of the programme.
The 'Shri Krishna Ki Vari', staged by Varanasi's Pratidhwani Culture Society at the Raj Bisaria Trust Auditorium, directed by Rahul Mukherjee was based on Rabindranath Tagore's 'Bhanu Singher Padavali'.
It brought to life the eternal love of Radha and Krishna and devotional traditions of Vidyapati, Chandidas, and Jayadeva-especially the rhythmic essence of 'Gita Govinda', while Odissi and Manipuri dance added to the overall visual appeal.
Artistes, including Rupali Bagchi, Rahul Mukherjee, Aatrika Bajpai, Toshita Chakraborty, Ikshita Pathak, S Kanakamurti, Aaradhya Shahi, Aadrika were part of the play.
Earlier in the day, at the BM Shah Auditorium, the play 'Adishakti Ram Shakti' was presented by Nisarg Sanstha and directed by Lalit Singh Pokhariya, based on an episode of the Ramayana where Lord Ram, seeing Ravana as invincible and his own army wounded, is overwhelmed with grief and anxiety.
He realises that the supreme divine power (Mahashakti) is protecting Ravana.
This leads to a fierce battle between Hanuman and the Goddess, after which, on Jambavanth's advice, Ram begins the ritual of invoking Shakti.
At the end, when the Goddess hides the final (108th) lotus flower, Ram prepares to offer his own eye, the Goddess appears and grants him the boon of victory....
