LUCKNOW, May 26 -- Ultrasound services have been hit hard at the 50-Bed Hospital (known by this name) in Chander Nagar, Alambagh, for the last one month due to the absence of a regular technician. As a result, patients and their attendants are left with no other option but to turn to other government or private hospitals. Though officials of this government hospital claimed that the ultrasound services have been partially affected, sources said the services remain fully suspended since April 26. "The radiologist is suffering from critical illness following which ultrasound services have been partially affected at the hospital. Senior officials have been informed about the issue and a new radiologist will be appointed soon to provide relief to patients coming here," said Dr Anand Tripathi, chief medical superintendent (CMS) of the 50-bed hospital. He insisted that the services are not completely shut, as few patients are getting their ultrasounds done. However, one source claimed that the ultrasound services had been suspended at the hospital since April 26, the last date the radiologist reported for duty. He pointed out that around 30 ultrasounds were done daily when the services were operational before April 26. He added that the patients are either forced to go to other hospitals or return without getting the ultrasound done....
