Lucknow, May 18 -- The Uttar Pradesh government is likely to get investment of $400 million in the state's fisheries sector in Unnao following a meeting between the management of UAE's Aqua Bridge and state chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh in Dubai early this month. The state government is getting the investment under the 'UP AGREES' (Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening) project that chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched along with World Bank president Ajay Banga here on May 9. "Yes, we are working on getting this investment under the World Bank sponsored UP AGREES project. We had a meeting with the management of UAE's Aqua Bridge at Dubai on May 8," Singh said. It will be set up on UPEIDA's nearly 60-acre land and be a centre of excellence, benefitting nearly a lakh farmers, he added. Mentioning another project, Singh said the first vegetable and fish market of its kind will be launched on Mandi's land in Lucknow's Dubagga. This proposal was also discussed during the chief secretary's Dubai visit. Before visiting Dubai, he was in Greece to explore investment opportunities for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, the chief secretary said.
