U.P. excise dept achieves 93.9% of April target
Lucknow, May 5 -- The Uttar Pradesh excise department has realised Rs 4319.46 crore (93.9%) of the monthly revenue in April 2025 against the target of Rs 4600 crore for the same month.
In April last year, revenue of Rs 3313.43 crore was earned against the target of Rs 4300 crore. The April 2025 exercise revenue represents a nearly 30% increase compared to the figures for the same month in 2024.
Minister of state (independent charge) for excise and prohibition Nitin Agarwal said this achievement was the result of the department's zero-tolerance policy against illicit liquor, in which intensive raids, effective curbing of smuggling, and innovations like QR code-based tracking system played an important role.
"Also, new policies implemented to ensure quality and transparent supply of liquor increased consumer confidence. This revenue not only reflects the efficiency of the department, but will also accelerate the state's ambitious goal of making UP a one trillion-dollar economy," Agarwal said.
"The 93.9% revenue receipt in April shows that the department is moving in the right direction and for the financial year 2025-26, the department has resolved to achieve a revenue target of Rs 63,000 crore. This revenue will be helpful in accelerating the development schemes, infrastructure, and social welfare programs of the state," he said.
