LUCKNOW, May 25 -- In its ongoing move to combat malnutrition, the UP government is set to significantly expand its Take Home Ration (THR) network. While 204 THR units are currently operational in 43 districts, supplying nutritious food to 288 projects, the state now aims to establish 347 new THR production units by 2026-27, a spokesperson said. A budget of Rs 273.50 crore has been allocated to support this ambitious goal. The initiative targets children aged 3-6 years, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, ensuring the timely delivery of nutrition. In the first phase, the existing units have already demonstrated positive outcomes in providing quality nutrition, according to a press release. Now, with the second phase underway, the government plans to decentralize THR units further so that every district in the state can benefit from local production and supply chains. To streamline operations, a decentralized payment system has also been implemented, with several districts - including Sant Kabir Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Basti, Siddharthnagar, Aligarh, Banda, etc....
