Two youths drown in Yamuna while bathing, one body recovered
PRAYAGRAJ, May 3 -- Two youths from the Bairhana locality drowned while bathing in the Yamuna near the Sangam Ghat, police officials reported. The incident occurred on Thursday night when they ventured into deep waters and were unable to make it back.
The incident came to light when the body of one of the youths, later identified as 17-year-old Ajay Kumar, was found floating in the river on Friday morning. Police rushed to the scene and launched a search operation for the other youth, 18-year-old Roshan, with the help of divers, they added.
As per the police, Ajay and Roshan, both residents of Bairhana locality under Kydganj police station area, were close friends. They had left their homes on Thursday night to bathe in Sangam. When they failed to return home by late night, their families began searching for them, but their efforts were unsuccessful.
Station house officer (SHO) of Kydganj police station Sanjay Kumar Singh said that Ajay's body has been taken into custody and sent for a postmortem.
A 17-year-old boy was found dead near a brick kiln in Gaura village under Kaptanganj police station area of Azamgarh district on Friday, police said and added that prima facie it appeared the boy had been murdered because there were injury marks on his neck.
A police officer said that the deceased was a resident of Gaura village. According to his kin, he had left home on Thursday evening to attend a wedding reception organised in the village, but did not return home at night. The family started searching for him. On Friday morning, the family lodged a missing complaint at the Kaptanganj police station.
Moreover, locals spotted the body lying near the brick kiln. The family members alleged that the teenager was stabbed to death. His hands were tied and there were knife marks on the neck, stomach and hand, said the officer.
Based on complaint of the kin, a case has been registered against the unidentified assailants under relevant sections of the BNS, added the officer.
Superintendent of police, city, Shailendra Lal reached the spot with the forensic team. The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
The SP City Lal said, "Injury marks have been found on the teenager's neck. Four teams have been constituted to find out the reason behind the incident. The teams will ensure arrest of those who committed the crime"
Nine residents of Madganj village, under Sultanpur Ghosh police station in Fatehpur district, were travelling to Khakhreru for a wedding function on Friday morning when their car met with an accident. As the vehicle neared the Dilawal Pur canal in the Saini police station area, stray cows suddenly appeared in its path. The driver, attempting to avoid the cattle, lost control of the car, which then crashed into a 33 KVA electric pole on the roadside.
The impact of the collision was severe, leaving all nine passengers, including four children and two women seriously injured. The vehicle was also completely damaged in the accident. Passers-by and local residents quickly rushed to the scene, pulling the trapped individuals from the wreckage.
Bodies of a young man and a woman were found on the railway track near Chauri Road, Carpet City, under Bhadohi Kotwali police station limits under mysterious circumstances on Thursday night, police said on Friday.
According to police, the deceased youth was identified as Rahul Patel, 24, a resident of Madiyahun area of Jaunpur, who lived with his maternal uncle, Dinesh Patel, in Abhayanpur, Bhadohi, while the identity of the woman is yet to be ascertained. Bhadohi Kotwali police station incharge Sachchidanand Pandey said that after receiving information, he, along with a police team, reached the spot and sent both bodies the post-mortem examination.
