LUCKNOW, July 26 -- Doctors at the King George's Medical University conducted robotic hip replacement for two patients who were beneficiaries under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and had been suffering from severe hip osteoarthritis for years. "This made KGMU the first government institution of Uttar Pradesh to perform robotic hip replacement via Ayushman Bharat scheme support. Following the robotic procedure, patients were able to begin walking as early as the third day post-surgery," said Prof Ashish Kumar, head of orthopaedic surgery department at KGMU. A team of senior specialists Prof Narendra, Prof Kumar Shantanu, Dr Sanjeev, Dr Devarshi, Dr Madhusudan, and Dr Brijmohan carried out the procedure. "Both the patients who underwent the robot-assisted hip replacement were beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. One patient is Durgesh, 20, resident of Lakhimpur and the other is Brahmadev, 75, from Basti," said Prof Kumar Shantanu.
