Two teenagers drown in Ganga in Kashi
Varanasi, Nov. 14 -- Two 17-year-old boys drowned in the Ganga River near Domri under the Sujabad police outpost in Varanasi on Thursday, police said.
The victims were identified as Mohammad Jaanu and Aman, both residents of Jalilpur village in the Mughalsarai police station area of Chandauli district. Police said the boys went to bathe in the river after school. During the bath, they slipped into deep water and began to drown. Their friend, Mohammad Atif, who was with them, shouted for help. People nearby rushed to the Domri Ghat, but the two could not be saved.
Divers and NDRF teams later recovered their bodies. Police added that the boys had left their school bags at a shop in Padav before going to the river.
A woman took her own life after her infant son died of burn injuries in Jobedh village under the Babhani police station area of Sonbhadra district, police said on Thursday. The deceased wife of Patiraj, was sleeping near a traditional stove with her nine-month-old son. The baby suffered serious burns from the embers and died.
Additional superintendent of police, Sonbhadra, Tribhuvan Nath Tripathi said the woman, shocked by her son's death, hanged herself with a sari. Villagers discovered the incident the next morning and informed the police. The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination. Police said further legal action is being taken.htc...
