Two siblings, aide held for multiple thefts
LUCKNOW, May 3 -- The Lucknow Police have busted a three-member gang involved in theft and robbery, arresting a brother-sister duo and their accomplice. The arrested individuals include Arjun Rawat, 27, his elder sister Mohini, 35, both residents of Lucknow, and Uday Raj, 28, a resident of Gosaiganj, said police.
Addressing newspersons, deputy commissioner of police, south, Nipun Agarwal, said that the trio were drug addicts who resorted to crime to fund their addiction. The DCP also revealed that the gang used a motorcycle purchased on EMI to commit the crimes. Struggling with payments and driven by drug cravings, they resorted to robbery.
The gang was apprehended following an investigation into a jewellery snatching incident on April 27. The victim, Aditya Rawat, a PGI resident, reported that two bike-borne assailants snatched a chain while he was returning home from Gosaiganj with his mother.
"Based on information provided by the accused, stolen jewellery worth Rs.26,200 was recovered from Rastogi Jewellers in Neelmatha," a release read....
