Two separate firing incidents trigger panic
LUCKNOW, May 12 -- Two separate firing incidents reported from different parts of Lucknow late on Sunday triggered panic among residents, prompting police to register cases on Monday and launch investigations.In the first incident, a man in his twenties narrowly escaped a firing attack in the Sushant Golf City area after two men, arriving in an SUV, allegedly chased and shot at him.
Police said the incident took place near the Ansal API area. According to a complaint filed by the victim, Aman Singh, a resident of Nilmatha originally from Rae Bareli, he had gone out for tea when the accused allegedly attacked him after spotting him there.
Aman alleged that while he was trying to escape, Manas Mishra pulled out a pistol and fired at him. He was unharmed, but the attackers allegedly chased him and attempted to fire again.
"Police recovered an empty cartridge from the scene. CCTV footage from the area is being examined,"said police in a press statement.
Police found that Aman has around half a dozen criminal cases registered against him while Manas Mishra, also faces multiple cases. Police said both sides were previously acquainted and that the incident is believed to be linked to an earlier dispute involving Aman's brother. Aman is a school van driver, officials added.
In another incident reported from the Thakurganj area, a drunken man in his twenties allegedly opened fire following a minor altercation with a neighbour late on Sunday night.
According to police, the incident occurred in Ekta Nagar locality of Balaganj. Complainant Abhay Singh Rathore told police that he was returning home from a friend's place in Gonda around 12.14 am when the incident occurred....
