Haridwar, Aug. 14 -- Two police outposts will be set up at the twin shrines of Mata Mansa Devi and Mata Chandi Devi, officials familiar with the matter said on Wednesday. This came after the stampede on July 27 that killed nine pilgrims and injured 30. "After inspection of Mata Mansa Devi shrine twice, it has been decided to set up a police outpost at the shrine area. Similar outpost will be set up at Mata Chandi Devi shrine. Both these shrines, situated on a hill record a large footfall of devotees every day," said Pramendra Dobhal, senior superintendent of police, Haridwar district. "A sub-inspector rank police officer will be incharge at Mata Mansa Devi temple outpost," Dobhal said. "Superintendent of City police Pankaj Gairola has been tasked to monitor both these outposts which will be vital in smooth arrival/exit of devotees, crowd management and maintenance of law and order. As on daily and annual basis large number of devotees arrive at both the shrines, it was felt that setting up of outposts will also evade any stampede like situation in time and effectively," he further said. At Mata Mansa Devi shrine outpost along with a sub-inspector ranked officer, one head constable, two home guards and one armed guard will be deployed, the officer said. At Mata Chandi Devi shrine outpost, two head constables, one constable, two home guards and one woman home guard will remain on duty....
