Two officials arrested for accepting bribes
LUCKNOW, Dec. 13 -- The Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) of Uttar Pradesh arrested two government officials for accepting bribes, in two separate trap operations on Friday, senior officials confirmed in a press note shared with the media.
The ACO Bareilly unit laid a trap under the supervision of inspector Ishtiyaq Warsi acting on a complaint filed by Dileep Agarwal, a resident of Salvation Army Road near Kotwali police station in Bareilly.
The complainant had alleged that an official demanded illegal gratification for facilitating a property registry and related proceedings.
During the operation, the team arrested Rishi Kumar Singh, an irrigation supervisor posted at Flood Division Office, Bareilly. Singh was caught accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 near the SBI ATM on Tehsil Road, Meerganj, Bareilly.
In a separate action, the ACO Azamgarh unit laid a trap based on a complaint from Abushad, a resident of Rasoolpur Tungi village. The complainant alleged that a revenue department official demanded a bribe in exchange for issuing an approval order for a pond lease allotted through auction.
The trap team apprehended Jaiprakash Yadav, a revenue inspector, on the first floor of the record room at the Martinganj Tehsil premises. Yadav was arrested while accepting Rs.5,000 in bribe. He was taken into custody, and further legal procedures are underway....
