LUCKNOW, Dec. 13 -- The Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) of Uttar Pradesh arrested two government officials for accepting bribes, in two separate trap operations on Friday, senior officials confirmed in a press note shared with the media. The ACO Bareilly unit laid a trap under the supervision of inspector Ishtiyaq Warsi acting on a complaint filed by Dileep Agarwal, a resident of Salvation Army Road near Kotwali police station in Bareilly. The complainant had alleged that an official demanded illegal gratification for facilitating a property registry and related proceedings. During the operation, the team arrested Rishi Kumar Singh, an irrigation supervisor posted at Flood Division Office, Bareilly. Singh was caught accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000 near the SBI ATM on Tehsil Road, Meerganj, Bareilly. In a separate action, the ACO Azamgarh unit laid a trap based on a complaint from Abushad, a resident of Rasoolpur Tungi village. The complainant alleged that a revenue department official demanded a bribe in exchange for issuing an approval order for a pond lease allotted through auction. The trap team apprehended Jaiprakash Yadav, a revenue inspector, on the first floor of the record room at the Martinganj Tehsil premises. Yadav was arrested while accepting Rs.5,000 in bribe.
