Two new trains flagged off at Baraut
Meerut, Nov. 25 -- Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday inaugurated two new trains at Baraut railway station in Baghpat district, marking a significant boost for connectivity across the Delhi-Saharanpur route. Addressing a gathering at the event, the minister said extensive work is underway to modernise the corridor, which will directly benefit teachers, traders and students who frequently travel along this stretch.
Vaishnaw announced that renovation and doubling of the line will begin soon. He further revealed that two new crossing stations will be constructed from October onwards to ease train movement, reduce congestion.
Highlighting the rapid development, the minister said the Indian Railways is operating in "mission mode" with large-scale reforms. "Earlier, the railway budget stood at Rs.1,000 crore. Today, it has been increased to Rs.20,000 crore," he said. Vaishnaw added that Uttar Pradesh alone has seen 5,272 kilometres of new tracks laid in the past 11 years, surpassing Switzerland's total of 5,000 kilometres, and that the region now enjoys 100% railway electrification....
